How on earth could he beat Carson to the ball, especially as Carson was allowed to use his hands. That was a 2 steps forward and routine catch or punch by any half decent keeper.
Good spot Ram, everyone last night was blaming Keogh and Davies, Carson should have snuffed it out

It looked like each of the three were relying on the other two.

Ollson. 15yards off his winger must share the blame stop the cross and nobody scores

Factually correct but it's this modern ploy of "narrowing the field" by having the full backs move inside, leaving no room down the middle.

Also means they can't cut crosses out. It happens in Dutch football too. The difference being that in Holland when the opposition has the ball the backs still move inwards BUT they also look at the distance they are from the winger and the angle as well so that they can get to the winger to intercept, tackle or at least put him under pressure. Something I also learned when I did the UEFA B coaches course with Staffs FA. They seem to have forgotten that along the way.

Time for them to remember it.

MadAmster take your point about the full backs should be aware of the distance they are from the winger But Ollson never seems to get it right Dallas had spent 30 minutes on the left without getting anything out of Baird . As soon as he wandered over to the right he had the freedom of P/park Not having ago at Ollson prefer him to Fozzy at the moment who was embarrassing at Shed Wed

Look at it another way, if Lawrence had looped over a cross like that, too close to the keeper, who easily cut it out, we would have panned him.

The fullbacks always seem to play more narrow and give the wingers room out wide. I think this is to stop them cutting in for goal and relies on your keeper and central defenders dealing with long crosses.
