I think penalty shootouts should have a single nominated taker from each team, thus avoiding the ridiculous scenario of a non specialist and goalkeeper potentially having to take one.
Thoughts?

I think the authorities reckon it all adds to the drama, Saxo.
I hate penalty shoot-outs myself. I'd rather see playing on until there is a decider, but I suppose player-welfare comes into it.
Your suggestion would be interesting. I wonder how many takers you'd get for that spot!
For the money these guys are on , I’m sorry but for someone to decide / declare ‘they’re not up to it’ I find a tad insulting.
By saying this I am comparing them to others in other sports who are on far far less ‘reward’ and lay everything on the line every time they go out.
I don't have any problems with Pens. Having replays for anything we will see less and less of. As money is the only factor now, nothing else matters, the game is now mid-process of being ruined. Following on from the American way of thinking (again money dictating) they want everything decided then and there! Pens are all part of that drama.
Of all the things destroying the game now, Pens don't actually bother me.
I have a HUGE issue with VAR. That alone will be the catalyst to the game dying. In a way I actually we hope that happens. Modern football has gotten way out of control. The media are destroying it, endless hours now discussing if Mata's knee was offside? Ref's getting a battering every weekend, for making a mistake. Which ultimately football is made up of. Most goals I see, could be easily prevented. Teams set up the wrong way, all mistakes. Just no managers, or players are accountable. Only ref's. The money, the media, the so-called experts, the legions of 'modern fans' who actually don't know the rules or understand the complexities, but feel the need to comment on everything (because of the media) ...managers like that prick at SPURS who declared that Rochdale's pitch was DANGEROUS!???? Bless him and his precious bunch of modern footballers who play on a bowling green at Wembley every week. Your playing away at Rochdale in the 5th round of the FA Cup ......if I was Dale, Id have kep that pitch. Turned the heating right down, turned the hot water off in the showers, and made it as difficult as possible! Dangerous my arse!! Ronnie Radford scored the most famous FA Cup goal on a pitch far, far worse, with a much heavier ball.
Nah ....I have lots of issues, and I do feel football needs to die before it returns to being enjoyable. But I don't have many issue with Pens. VAR etc .....that needs to go.
It’s progress Champs!
The rant over the pitch conditions helped along by the ‘Elf’ an Safety brigade and validated during the ‘risk analysis crew’ afternoon session all in hi viz jackets, toe cap boots an hard hats . Just in case.
Cones placed around goal mouth next ???
Wonder when the rugger scull caps are gona become the norm ? Not so far fetched thought really. However, don’t think some of our ‘heroes’ (at upper level) would be too happy with it interfering with and hiding their latest ‘hair creation’.
Phew, I feel better after that 😉
I just thought Rochdale let themselves get bullied a bit by the big boys. If Spurs precious manager (who gets talked up by our southern based media, but won't win a thing in this country) wanted a new pitch and felt it was dangerous, then get Spurs to pay £500,000 for it to be replaced. Rochdale don't earn hundreds of millions, for winning nothing, Spurs do. I'm glad they got a replay, and got some money from it, but I'm intruiged these foreign managers are coming in and changing the rules. I also like how VAR isn't at a ground like Spotland. So basically it's brought in to make sure Big clubs get favourable decisions. And the game now is a non-contact sport. Taking a throw in and putting your foot 2 yards over the white line (which I see happening 3/4 times a match) is acceptable. Modern footballers not being able to take a thrown in properly is now the norm. Keepers are allowed to hold the ball well over a min, without getting blown up. Corners can now be taken well outside the corner 'D' .....but if a pitch isn't a bowling green, poor Deli Ali may get a muddy top when he dives for his pen, therefore it must be dangerous. The mind boggles ....
ahhhh ....I needed to get that out!
