    Aye...all of this.

Still learning his trade but has come on massively and if he continues at this rate he'll definitely go to one of the big clubs unless we have a big change in fortune..

At the time, i thought £9 million for him and Darlow was too much but it's looking like a bargain.

That's the only reason Ashley would have sanctioned the purchase. Nothing to do directly with them becoming good or better players but merely becoming a more valuable asset for him to cash in on.

At least we know Rafa won't whore him around at every press conference like Pardew use to do. You'd think the c'unt was on a percentage.

One plus side is the new contract he signed. I think it runs till 2024? Or 2022. Either way it puts us in a strong position.

Chronicle were saying problem is despite his importance he's not one of our highest paid player (still falls to Shelvey) and if his agent starts whisper in his ear etc.

I think if we hold off over the summer, they'll move on to another target. Lascelles will only increase in value if he keeps improving the way he has been, so it's a win-win to keep hold of him. CB is a position where there's a real dearth of talent around Europe, so there'll always be a demand as long as he stays fit.

If big clubs come in with bigger wages and massive transfer money, we can't hold on to any player and it's as simple as that, unless we destroy our own club ideals and put it in jeopardy by creating a knock on effect of massive hikes in wage demands.

It's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Only a money soaked blank cheque type owner will ever stop rising starts leaving this club...but it doesn't stop at our club.
We...among just about every other club apart from the elite few, are just nurseries for the bigger clubs to raid,a s and when necessary.

Until this sickness ceases, we will never have any player stability, long term.
Look at Southampton as a yardstick for it.

    Sadly, this is true.

    I sadly agree with this.
