Our youth system has failed us

If ever there was a season when we needed brilliant youth talent making an impact on the first team this was it.

Where were they when we needed an injection of passion and desire to make it in the first team? Where was the new Jonny Russell when the first team coach needed one? Where was the new Stuart Armstrong? ok I realise these type of players don't come along every day but we should have seen some new blood by now.

We all know what's wrong with the club, it's been well documented on here, but one of the first jobs of the new regime needs to be to rip out the old wood and rebuild our youth development from scratch.

It's maybe a different thread, maybe not, but it also seems we are now a club that players can't get away from quick enough, John Souttar Blair Spittal, Michael Gardyne, I'm sure some posters will know of others.

Will we get a new regime with the root cause of all the issues being so stubborn about selling up? And i dont think that many players have wanted away, more like the quids were flashing in front of someone!

One of the first things to be done if the miracle happens is getting Stevie Campbell back in the club, and maybe even Ian Cathro as well.

While I agree with the OP totally it's more of a case of the club (i.e. The chairman) failing the youth system by allowing Stevie Campbell to leave and not backing him when he needed it most.

The fact that the Club paid up Stevie Campbell whilst insisting on a gagging clause, rather than conclude the whole industrial tribunal hearing, is highly suggestive in itself that Campbell had a strong case against unfair dismissal and would have won anyway. Further, you've got the secretary last week winning a payout against unfair dismissal. On top of all that you've got the Chairm.., oops, 'Mr A' , running about shagging anything, preferably under the age of 19, and you do to start to wonder what the actual phuck is going on in a so called 'Family' Club. If he'd been an MP or a Minister he would have been forced to resign by now. No such luck for us.

It’s not highly suggestive in the slightest. Solicitors inform what are the least costly means of settling a dispute, in most cases a derisory offer is made to the claimant, and this offer would be well below the cost of fees for solicitors, witnesses time off work etc. As some of these tribunals can last days. We had one recently where a claim was made for £25,000 by a disgruntled employee who claimed constructive dismissal, on the final day before the tribunal started he was offered £800, and he accepted it, you reckon he ‘won’ lol

    Good points James.

These payouts to former employees (that have been treated illegally by the club) is needlessly wasted income.

Supporters and sponsors don't give their hard earned cash to the club to see it squandered by a board that has no respect for employment law.

Any payout costs incurred here are the result of mis-management by someone who does not know or respect employment law. They have cost the club a lot of money, and should be shown the door. Replaced by someone who knows what they are doing.

According to the media the Admin girl settled out of court for a 'five' figure sum. That could be anything from £10,000 - £99,999. Most likely somewhere between 10-20 grand.

We currently have, barring injury, two players who have came through our youth set-up as first choice. Robson and Fraser. Five of our first team squad are such players also: adding Ballantyne, Allardice, and M Smith.

This is nowhere near failure IMHO.
