Left wing in theory, in practice a £2m London flat and £600k Yorkshire Home show his true beliefs. A loud belligerent man who even the miners turned against.

If Scargill's SLP had ever put up a candidate in the Ribble Valley I'd have voted for him. They had three policies which I supported 100%, more than any of the other parties, re-nationalise the railways, bring the buses back under local authority control, and leave the European Union. But of course they never did, they had more sense than to waste their time and money on the Ribble Valley, Nigel has a job for life here.

Do you remember the Lib Dems taking Ribble Valley back in 1991 Sinkov? It didn't last long, but that result caused the end of the Poll Tax and the downfall of Thatcher.

Michael Carr (who won it for the Lib Dems) is a bloody good bloke but the good people of the Ribble Valley reverted to type once the Poll Tax had been ditched along with Thatcher.

One man's 'reverting to type' is another man's 'seeing sense' I suppose.
