    Local history

I thought that I would have a walk around Newark yesterday and noticed this post next to an old public pump in the market place,it turns out to be a old bear bait post from the 1800's,I know that bear baiting was a terrible thing but it's part of history and should be preserved as a reminder of times past, horrible but fascinating non the less, you can see it in the old black n white photo with the leather collar still attached,is there any interesting items of history in full view that nobody takes any notice of where you live?Name: IMG_20180224_122122667.jpg

Chalky after reading your post that photos would have been very interesting.

    Shame about their non appearance.
