Getting debatable now .......... a long long time since I studied the language at school. I think I'm correct as I'm naming a specific group of people and hence meant it as a proper noun. In this case we just may be both correct. Maybe Red Sid could advise?

Don't think so, but I'm happy to revise my opinion if there are any grammar experts out there.

Also, using ellipses as punctuation wasn't taught at grammar school, I'm sure of that. 😘

All proper nouns begin with a capital letter wherever they may appear in a sentence. In the case in question I could have written "the country's illiterate Illiterates" which is correct when using the same word as both an adjective and a noun.

Instead, you could have simply written 'Leave Voters'.

Although I'm not entirely sure the capitalisation of 'L' and 'V' is correct.
