yep was 3 miles to our school, we walked fairly often.

Remember the massive snowball fight we had at school

3 schools - same grounds - ours in the middle

we had to defend both sides against the other 2 schools - teachers headmasters etc all out hoying snowballs.

Not sure how it relates to then but certainly now, where i work the problem is the staff can't get in if the roads are ****ed.

Hardly any of us live in Oxford, or near enough to the school to be able to get in if it snows down heavily - simply because we can't afford to live in Oxford.

I work at nissan and lads I work with can live anything up to 45 miles away.... nobody would EVER be given a day off or even allowed to leave early just because of the weather. if you are late for work, quite often you owe them the time back.

my wife works at the Freeman Hospital, same rules apply.

our kids are off school, but one of us has to make very costly arrangements so we can look after them.

loads of North Tyneside schools shut-ridiculous, imo...we were open and had a mint time hoying snowballs. The kids totally lost their shit when that lightning and thunder hit.
