Leicester City won the EPL under foreign ownership
Watford sit 9th in the EPL this week under foreign owners

So foreign ownership as a concept maybe ok

On the other hand Leeds United also foreign owned...........

It''s not the nationality of the owners that matters it's what aims they have for the club short and long term surely?

Anyway I can't imagine life without United. I've always supported through thick and thin and always will. Even if we went bust next week if someone asked me in 20 years time which team I support I'd say Dundee United.
Let's hope that better things lie ahead.
    Keep the faith, keep supporting.
    Arabest!
Hi Stokes, no offence taken. My experience has clearly not been your, or many other United fans' experience. A small, faithful, diminishing band of us have a little United culture of our own, but to varying degrees this is also the case with some other sections of the support.I'm sure United will be with me, at least in spirit, until my last breath, but as we get older we make reassessments over what is most important in our lives and we tend to avoid more the things which bring us stress, frustration and disappointment. Such is the experience of life. As you say, let's hope better things lie ahead. I want to believe in and trust Mike Martin, but unfortunately he is guilty by 'close' association with ST. At the moment, I will give him time (in fairness) if not my trust. That has to be earned.

All this foreign owner chat combined with Thompson pursuing "global sports interests" has me thinking we may be about to become part of a "portfolio" or "franchise" of clubs.

See The City Football Group - Man City - NYCFC - Melbourne City FC - Yokohama Marinos - Atletico Torque and Girona FC

Or the Red Bull Franchise - RB Leipzig - RB Salzburg - RB Brasil - New York RB

Would you be surprised to see a team like, say (Wild speculation alert), Manchester Utd, with their American owners, look to establish a Utd group to try and keep up with City's ambitions?

I'm not sure how being part of a wider franchise would appeal to me, but it would be bloody exciting.

MM’s statement says United would stay as a stand-alone club

I believe there was discussion with the city group some months ago, meeting was held in the US, it all went quiet but at the time it was reckoned to be in with a good shout.

My understanding is that UEFA are looking at the amount of players on the books with certain clubs, who then loan huge numbers out to other clubs, in some cases up to 48 players out on loan . Big clubs are now actively looking at ways around this, and by having feeder clubs in place they can sign a player to that club and have ‘first dibs’ on the players should they want
