Treated the little niece to a trip on the sea plane from Cameron House at Loch Lomond. I thought it was brilliant. Took off and headed west over Helensborough. Pilot pointed out a hunter/killer sub being escorted along to the Naval base, he also pointed out all the destroyers and minesweepers that patrol the larger area when the sub is on the go. Seems it didn't have it's full payload of nuclear weapons as when it is fully armed there is a much bigger naval presence shadowing it including some SBS teams. Interesting stuff.
Isle of Bute, it's main town Rothesay, all the various Lochs round about before heading back over Gourock and Greenock with just a little time to hunt down the Sub on the way back to Loch Lomond. Cracking stuff.
It's about £100 per person and we didn't need to book in advance. Takes about an hour in total. Well worth it in my opinion. The plane seats 10 and everyone gets headsets so the pilot can tell you all the information about the paces you are flying over.
Have to admit I sometimes forget what a beautiful country it is that we live in.
The mechanic on that sea plane used to drink in our local.
I hope he’s better at fixing planes than he is at drinking
Since Le Havre fell through I have replaced it with another Dutch fitba mission in September. Three games, three cities, three days
