I certainly wouldn't be in any hurry.Premier League money is dropping and whilst there is the likelihood of new competitors for Sky and BT entering the market the future is uncertain. Our dry powder room is well stocked. We are happy as we are and can reject any advances from potential asset strippers.

    Tricky one isn't it Jon?

Certainly fraught with danger - look at Portsmouth, Leeds, Rovers etc etc.

On the other hand Leicester got very lucky.

For sure it is the only way we can compete with the big six, but it could go badly wrong.

It very much depends on WHY someone wants to spend £180 million on Burnley. They are hardly likely to be committed Burnley fans.

And, if they did invest that much money in our club, what input would they expect? Would they sack the manager every six months if results were not up to their expectations? Would Burnley be re-branded?

Let's face it, it is not likely to be the same investment as Chelsea, City, Liverpool etc are receiving.

I agree that offers should be considered seriously but we need to be ultra cautious.

And perhaps our main share holders are thinking that this is a perfect time to cash in?

Yes it is a tricky one ,...Stick or Twist,....Stick to mid table/possible relegation.......Twist take on the top six/also relegation...Needs Strong nerves this one for sure...But if we dont try, we will never know

Money doesn’t buy points though as many clubs who have done it have found out. It worked for a Rovers under Walker but not with Venkys, QPR, Portsmouth, Bolton just a few. Everton spent £200m for this season and the new owners is building a new £300m stadium whilst they may be relegated. Swansea have struggled.
So do the current owners want to sell or borrow and if so what for. We could be sixth with luck and a following wind as we are. How much higher can we realistically go.
Do we want to move to a new stadium, or spend more on transfers and wages. What would be the pay back for the owner or investor.
Glaziers loaded United with debt so they could buy it.
As others have said we need to be careful, we need a plan. We do have one that Sean has signed up to with current owners, but might he clash with a new paradigm.

No, Money does not buy points,...But my point is,...Mr Garlick,...is in a funny sort of situ..Do Nowt and relegated,..Or pump some money in and maybe get relegated, But also with a chance to break the top six...
We may never be in this position again,....

So, if we took the plunge and then ended up in the same situation as Portsmouth, with large tax bills and letting down local contractors who went bust, then we ended up in administration, thus resulting in a demotion to League Two, you would still be happy to come and watch the team plying their trade in the bottom division and remember how things used to be.

I wonder how many other fans would take that view when, historically, some fans have never been back because the club sold Jimmy McIlroy and then followed that by selling Martin Dobson in order to build a new stand.

Nobody knows what the future holds, however, any take over will really need to be scrutinised carefully by the Club because the FA certainly do not seem to carry out the necessary checks as to who is deemed to be fit to own a club.

We are trying, we have a group that work for each other and no one is a big head. You want some marquee signings? They could destroy the group and Sean’s plan. We are slowly slowly catching the monkey and could be in Europe. I don’t want to see the team, and the club destroyed by some multimillionaire who has better ideas than the current directors. Sorry money isn’t everything.

The club and town are inextricably linked and we are one of the few clubs left in the PL that are. Mr Big shot from the USA or Asia will destroy the clubs culture. No one gives money for nothing so what’s the pay back going to be?

    Exactly.

They will want full control of running the club if they are to invest £££.

And these type of people tend to have little patience - which does nothing for stability.

Having said that, it COULD work out well, but any potential buyers need to be scrutinised within an inch of their lives.
