Hey Stateside the Villingham fan lol, do you want to send Conor H back to us yet ?.
The competitive quality is and always will be more relevant here in the Champship compared to the Premship. But I think teams in the top flight dont give two tom tits about that do they ?.
Its the money that they are bothered about and pull the ladder up Jack eh, the rest can fend for themselves on the remaining scraps etc.
Id rather see your team or Fulham or Derby for example, go up instead of that dreadful Colin inspired Cardiff team.

Hi Acid. The fans are torn on Conor. Too lightweight some say, his goals are glorious say others. I hope he stays a long time at the Villa, but that's rare these days. Credit to Chris Brunt on the Albion team who has stayed through good and bad and wears the throstle with pride.

Getting up to the prem is tough but staying there is harder. I think only Wolves can survive from what I've seen, but it seems they have done some shady crap to get there. After Wolves, Fulham play well enough to have a shot. Warnock and Bruce aren't cut out for the top flight imho unfortunately. I don't think they are as good as Pardoe, Allardyce or Hodgson and all three of those could get relegated this season, one definitely.

We can never prove it, but it was a group of girls who started it, i was 14 and standing right behind them and joined in, so i was one of the first to do it. Only a few of us did it to begin with and others were craning their heads over. The Brummie called more and it was played again and everyone did it.
I think we may have been playing Chelsea, if we weren't it was pretty soon after, and we did it and they didn't. Then as now fans copy others so Chelsea would have adopted it within days.
When it was played at Wolves the North Bank would hiss and boo. I think they adopted it as a pee take as they did with I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside, which we started at Pompey in the 68 cup game, and Knees Up Mother Brown, which was another anthem of ours.
We did Ring of Fire as a pee take in the play off 2nd leg, we never have done it since.
It doesn't really matter who starts a song, but it's annoying when Wolves fans old enough to remember claim it as theirs, when they know they didn't sing it until at least a season or two after.
Chelsea have a better claim,..but it wasn't them either.

Hollywood are buggers for trying to rewrite history too.

Will Villa go up, well, we have a chance and that's all the Manager will say, will we get back to former glories, probably not in my life time.
Will Albion get relegated, for sure, Will blues get relegated, for sure, Will Wolves come straight back down, for sure. Will Man Citeh win the league for the next 20 years, For sure, so what's the point. Until the monopoly that is SKY is Burst, I am afraid football for the purest is dead and buried.

Saying all that, I would Love a day out at Wembley and win the play off final, its something I guess.

Don't take this the wrong way but we will not be playing you next season so good luck with relegation, you guys are masters at it, isn't this the reason why you sing Boing Boing??

Don't take this the wrong way - we are ****e but so are you, and yes we will be playing you next year, and even our lot would still beat you after a night on the piss at McDonalds!

A season of pure misery lightened only be seeing Villa fail to gain automatic promotion.

I may even bring myself to cheer for Direby if they meet in the play offs.

It takes a lot for me to feel any joy towards “The Sheep” but I would on that day.

Wolves are safely up now but “Colin” may steal the silverware.......I’ll be derided for saying it but the bloke is a genius at getting teams promoted.

For what it's worth, we actually sang along to Liquidator while it was a hit in late '69. They played it over the tannoy, and we instantly added the "West Brom" bit. I don't know what possesses the WW and Chelsea fans to "claim it" because I went to both Away games in 70/71 and it was not sung at either. I couldn't care less who did it first, but that's honestly true.
As for "Beside The Seaside" I started singing that as soon as we got off the coach at Blackpool (Oct 65 - we were Top of the League for a week!), and one of the other lads added the "West Brom West Brom" bit. We sang it all the way down the beach and at the game.

This Thread Makes A Refreshing Change. It Started With Childish Name Calling And Developed Into An Interesting Topic. In My View After Last Night Wolves Are Within Carragher Distance Of The Premier League But Villa Have A Lot Of Work To Do Yet. I've Been Resigned To Relegation Since The Huddersfield Game Unless Wet Ham And Two Others Get Massive Points Deductions For Crowd Misbehaviour.
