We could invite Abramovich to tender for the hotel. He could fit those blinds he makes.
I presume AH and his advisors have looked at any available plans for possible developements around the cattle market area and it must look rosy for the future if he is thinking of building a hotel there. Besides, there is no indication of an either/or situation between club investment and building his hotel. The man has just spent a pile on improvements to Meadow Lane and his golf club, he is looking at buying a training ground, and his Paragon Group is booming. He is obviously a very successful businessman and you don't become that without care and caution in your investments.
To ask AH to forgo investing in his business future and pour all his cash into the bottomless pit that is a football club is asking a bit much from someone is already losing money hand over fist.
Perhaps he wants to see the club on a firm standing for years to come and be self sufficient. Isn't that what all supporters want rather than seeing us blow money we haven't got and ending up in administration in a year or two?
I think some supporters see the club as a game and not real with real life implications!
You mean a proven goal scorer under the age of 32ish? Problem is, at lower levels there seems to be a very significant risk of ending up with a Danny Haynes, Karl Hawley, Tony Hackworth or a Burger van. Why can't we pluck somebody out of the National League for relatively sensible money. Teams down there are scoring goals every week, they can't all be off the boots of midfielders and defenders.
It all depends on your opinion of where "the right areas" are. If your idea of the right areas is using his money to buy new players, how can he do that when the transfer window is closed? He could sign out of contract players but there are mixed opinions on the quality of someone no-one else wants. He has NOT said he will forego the aquisition of new players so he can finance his hotel project, has he? If he gets this hotel up and running, in time it will contribute more cash for the push for the Championship and keep us there. If you think AH cannot afford both players and hotel so must go for promotion this year (how?), it could well backfire if he finds he cannot find the extra money to finance us in League 1, a league both he and Ray Trew said is financially unworkable for Notts County.
