This suggests that the Russians wanted it to be known that it was them. There are much more anonymous ways of bumping somebody off.

A message to any other would be defectors?
A message to our government - "yes we did it. What are you going to do about it?"
    Good point.
Message to other defectors; "we can even leave our calling card and the Brits will still do nothing about it....be afraid, be very afraid!"

The Tories are probably up to their necks in dodgy Russian money. Nothing of substance will be done.

For the record; yes, we should pull out of World Cup....for starters!

It’s only going to get worse, we need to pull the plug now

23 Russian diplomats have one week to leave UK.

None of the Royal family or government will be representing England in Russia , players can be put at risk though and fans at their own risk

It's getting a bit sticky for them now. If all the countries that signed the letter of condemnation against Russia threatened to pull out then it'd get juicy.

On second thoughts I think we should go. Wouldn't want to deprive the Barmy Army of an opportunity to sing "We're sh1te and we know we are"

Military action or something that could lead to military action would be hasty.

Pulling out of the World Cup wouldn't be I don't think.

Should never have got it in the first place, or Qatar.

No problem with boycotting the world cup. Maybe we should refuse to use Russian gas aswell.

Not many people know most of our gas comes from Russia. Imagine the effect it could have on our country if Putin says turn it off?

We've been boycotting it since 1966

The biggest supplier of gas to the UK remains the North Sea at about 45%. We do get gas from a European network into which Russian gas feeds. Taking that into account, about 15% of our gas comes from Russia. The Russians are unlikely to shut off gas to the European network because that would cause serious damage to their own economy.
