It would be interesting to see Shelvey play as a 10 with Merino and Diame behind. I think it eliminates his eye for the long ball though. Why not play Diame or Merino #10 in this case?

    Shelvey seems the best fit.

I'd play Shelvey with Diame as it's worked so well recently and put Murphy or Merino as number 10.

You've provided nothing to substantiate this. At the very least I said I'd leave Shelvey back because of his ability to make long passes. Why do you think he'd do well behind the striker?

Hopefully she was looking down on him and a little more impressed than you.

Hats off to the lad for pulling on the shirt
Can’t be easy after the death of a loved one.
in my defence i was unaware of this.

Fair play to the lad, and i did state that i actually like him and don't doubt his graft but i still stand by my points which many people seem to agree with

diame is better as a defensive midfielder and is showing his worth when we are compact and going forward
merino i honestly dont know his best position
why i went for shelvey is he doesnt defend as such
he does put nice balls through and i appreciate he can ping a ball corner to corner but there is nothing stopping him dropping of into the gap to do this when we need to push teams back

he does cover a lot of ground but just doesnt track back with the opposition

given a free roll a bit like rooney used to and cantona etc i think we will see a bit more from him

    Hey man no sweat
I’ve just re read my post and it does seem to read a little harsh

I like Perez and think he’s an honest grafter but I don’t really think he has the ability or rather don’t think he’s developed as much as I’d originally hoped ( what or teams been through since he’s been here stability wise it’s hardly surprising)

As for number 10 I would like to see merino given a chance
He plays there for Spain u21 and scored a few corkers.
I think he needs a run in the team to boost confidence and it’s going to be hard to dislodge as another poster put it
    ‘the lighthouse family’
From a starting cm pairing at the moment.

Completely agree about the tracking back. We've seen performances of him giving up defensively late in the game but why not just make sure Shelvey is the first one subbed off? Either way, I wouldn't mind a #10 in the summer. Along with other additions....

    sub him for who

perez looks good on the opponenets shoulder as does gayle but gayle gets in the box better

I still want to see diame mbemba and shelvey as a midfield diamond Ritchie one side the lad from Chelsea the other gayle up front lascelles lejeune centre backs
    dummet and Yedlin either side
