    They would have to rebuild it to its original state, using original materials and original methods of work. Let's say that the lintels were smashed during the demolition they can demand that they are repaced with new ones made from the same materials and even demand that the stone comes from the same quarry that the originals came from.

    Very expensive.

    Another factor is that it is a mongrel of a building built at different times. The supposed historical bit is only a minor part of it. I would expect asbestos removal to be long and costly.

    Also remember that the initial reason for preservation was that it was the birth place of the screw water tap. The actual truth being that the patent for said tap was lodged a decade before building started at the NYS site. Guest and Chrimes then were based in the town centre, a site long gone.

    We'll probably be ready for a new stadium by the time any progress is made on the G+C site.
    Tbh I don't mind it, it gives the place some character..
