Dissertation Survey - The attitudes and effects of unethical sponsorship.

Hi all, I am posting to five football club fans forums who currently have sponsorship associated to gambling firms specifically on the front of their shirts. I am a third-year university student and my dissertation topic are to explore the views and money that is made for profit from these deals. The survey will take around two to five minutes to complete consisting of ten questions associated to betting and your club. If you would like to include your email at the start of the survey I am going to pick an email at random and sent a £10 amazon voucher for your participation within a weeks time. If you do choose to participate thank you so much and I highly appreciate your answers!

You may view the research project participation information sheet before clicking the survey about how your data will be held with no use for any reason other than this project.

Please see the link below for the survey,

    Thanks again!

Did it, but I skipped 6 as said in 5 as I’m not a gambler. It told me that was a mandatory question, so I filled in the answer only to find the form now jammed. Will try again

Same for me oldcolner. I do not gamble so skipped Q5 but was able to submit the form after going back and entering lowest betting amount.

Hypocrisy and the FA are superb bedfellows.

I was a bit dubious about taking part in this survey because it wasn't clear to me by what definition of the word was shirt sponsorship by betting companies being called 'unethical'. Despite the difficulty of not being able to entirely agree about the basic premise of the survey I did start it, then came to a question about whether gambling firms wanted to make money from their sponsorship deals, well of course they do, there's only one answer to that question, but so does every other company that pays money to a football club for shirt sponsorship, but there was no facility to point this out. I recognise questions like that from surveys I've taken part in before, so not being happy with where these questions were leading me, I went no further.

I'd be more interested in a survey which considered just how unethical shirt sponsorship by betting companies actually was, in comparison say to government sponsored adverts and promotions enticing the poorer members of society to buy National Lottery tickets. Or just how unethical gambling is in any shape or form, rather than one that just takes it a given that these shirt sponsorship deals ARE unethical.

Are they ? Who says so ?

Students have develop their own hypothesis and then test it. So it will be students idea. When there a 100 students a year it can be a challenge. These are a learning exercise and not for public consumption. The guy needs help to get some results and feedback. I hope he reads your comments too. Then he can write up hus project. I hope you will take it at face value and not expect it to be of You Gov standard or in the Daily Telegraph next week.

May I respectfully suggest you all read Naomi Klein's book, "No Logos"?

It sort of asks and answers all of the questions being discussed on this thread.

I still can't get my head round Barton being effectively thrown out of his profession for embracing the very product he was advertising on his shirt.
