Sort of related, and to lighten the mood, one of the bands I regularly do business with live in Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard's old house. Actually, lol at 'old house', check it out...

Yes of course, I was watching the series about Scientology headed by Leah Remini and a British guy.
Truly a shocking revelation at the extent of their deception.
I fully understand the apathy to organised religion after another expose like this.
And yes, Mr Hubbard (who didn't actually die according to them, merely gave up his earthly vessel to attain another OT level), did have a home in England. Quite a big 1 I gather. It was his base of operations for much of the late 50 and 60s, before the British Govt and journalists came a snooping. He promptly gave that up (dunno if it was leased or sold) and took to the high seas, with his own ship, mainly docking off the Spanish and Greek coasts before finally sailing and permanently anchoring of the Caribbean.

Defo not sold, its COS HQ, I go down once a year for an open air gig. In a decade of knowing the COS guys they've never even bought the subject of their church up with me, but I know one of their guitarists did a runner after they tried to recruit him. His story, and he's not a known storyteller, is that, through a family connection (he is cousin of one of the metal heros), some of Iron Maiden called by the Manor for a faceoff once he'd relayed his story to them. Who knows....

How wasted (apart from the obvious Scientology link)? It was saved from dereliction with stupid people's (scientologists) money for the benefit of non-stupid people (everyone else), who can wander the house and grounds for free if they just ask.

Yes, but I'm sure they do try and recruit people for their 'religion' - the usual ploy, a free analysis....
    Do they?
