What we tend to forget or ignore rather, is our dismal loss away to Poland and our failure to beat Wales at home during those qualifiers for '74. Its like blaming relegation on the last day of a 46 game season!.

Mexico '86 was my favourite WC because of the atmosphere and some great teams and some truly great goals. And the fact that it was on the other side of the world and the dodgy kick off times made it really feel like a proper world cup instead of it being in Germany, or Italy, or Spain etc. We can genuinely say we were cheated out of it by a fat dirty little cheat who was the best player in the world, the fact that he saw the need to do that when he was as good as that, makes it worse.

Nearly half time and fairly dull so far. Typical training exercise type pace... then when England really need to step up a gear in a competitive game, they don't know what to do

No enthusiasm for a bunch of overrated divers who have no pride in the shirt.
Used to have but not now.

We don’t have one world class player.

Dont worry, we still have Gazza and Rooney to come back one day lol.
Remember when we used to pin so much faith on one player like that, it was daft. And the fact that we often made the mistake of forcing two identical players like Gerard and Lampard into the same team, its annoying when you look back at it. We ought to win this game tonight against an admittedly poor and low on confidence new Holland team, they wont be as poor as this again (even though this is only a friendly).

Slack marking by the Dutch defence down the wings throughout the game. Rose is again given too much room and his efforts eventually pay off, leading to a Lingard goal

Nicely taken by Lingard, as long as he keeps it low and on target, he was always going to test the keeper. Do we want to break sweat now though and go for a second goal ?. Holland are creating a few half chances now.
