Words like duty, courage and selflessness get tossed around way too liberally. This man epitomizes all of that.

He also epitomizes the French motto - Libertie, Egalite and Fraternitie

This is what sets good policemen apart - putting their lives on their line for others. But still one cannot blame those who hesitate like the cop in the Florida shooting.
These kind of decisions are instantaneous. You don't think, you just go in and do your job. I've been a cop before, if at the moment, one doesn't think, you are programmed to do. But if you have a think, you have the right to think of your family.
I mean now, would I risk my life for others? Probably not, my family needs me.
So his sacrifise is much the more laudatory.

An extremely brave man, of that there is no doubt. If everybody was as selfless as him we probably wouldn't need a police force. I salute you, Sir.
