I was thinking that myself . We have had a few one nil wins and scoreless draws. If you take those games out of the equation then the goal average in the games conceded will be scary.

Spike I accept your statement below:

" If we do not have a defensive wall what is then stopping the opposition putting one there simply to obscure the keepers view. As for defenders on the post then that simply plays all of their players onside. If it was that simple then it would have been adopted long ago by every team in the game and since it has not it is obviously a non starter."

Lets look at each point in turn: "what is stopping the opposition putting one (a wall) simply to obscure the keepers view" - we might as well let them for several reasons; 1) we already block the keepers view 2) let them tie up their team in a wall 3) If walls are so effective, - we might as well let the opposition block their own shots 4) we might as well let the opposition potentially injure their own players from the free kick 5) more importantly, it frees up our defenders to mark the few remaining opposition players.

"As for defenders on the post then that simply plays all of their players onside." I would rather play all the players onside than risk every other free kick from landing in the back of our own net. At the moment, the greatest risk from free kicks is from 19 to 25 yards, - so once you deduct 10 yards we are talking about a very finite space, which should be relatively easy to defend, - especially if the opposition decides to commit half of their team to a wall.

The science of free kicks has changed so much that all the advantages are with the taker of the kick, and it is time to change the tune and shake it up a bit.

There's endless reasons why it would crazy to have players on the post for free kicks ,the offside problem ,keeper harrasment as on corners, they couldnt stop top corner shots .
As for an opposition wall ,it would be purely to obscure keepers view ,probably 2 of 3 players possibly moving sidewards ,jumping to allow shots under, breaking to allow shots through.
Again the list of advantages to the opposition is endless

48 goals scored - the best in the league apart from the top two but a ridiculous 48 conceded - only whipping boys Brechin have
lost more ! Really thought at the start of this season that Mr Naysmith's vast experience as an international defender would have
been beneficial - seems I was clutching at straws.

we have two main probs that need addressed at the back ,it can be done through coaching or just getting new players in ,1. we have no dominant in the air central defender ,thay all usually get murdered in the air ,and 2. we need a goalie that comes out to collect and hold not punch to give it to opposition just to return ,brownlie was ok now and agian winning headers but he has started to look disinterested ,fordyce just omps it out the ground or up field losing possession again ,we would be a good few points better off with a dominant aerial centre back .

tottaly agree about browlie his attitude is terrible if u watch him any time the ball goes past him he saunters back with his hand in the air he was getting bullied in the air by Clark and when he has the ball he just kicks it anywhere with no reaction to losing it laaughing and taking photos of fans dancing at an end of season dance last year shows his whole attitude is shocking and he doesnt care and is just stealing a wage
