    O/T car wash

Who washes their car by hand and what products do you use??
I’ve just changed my car. the last one I had 10years and always washed by hand it was metallic grey and the colour was very forgiving.
I now have a black car, oooh man different ball game..
    Anyone got any tips

I’m thinking of going for a synthetic ceramic coating instead of wax.....does anyone have any experience of this
Any help ir words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated

I also have a black car for the first time, can't keep it clean man, always looks like it needs a wash. The back door is the worst though due to the shape of the rear end it gets filthy in no time compared to the rest of the car. Always use the car wash as it does a better job than I do by hand plus it's pretty reasonable at 5 dollars a go and it also washes the underneath and if it rains within 24 hrs. I get a free one. Can't complain. Never used that ceramic stuff but can't really see how it would be any better.

I never use car washes because the brushes can scratch the paintwork
I use the two bucket method to wash by hand but when waxing a black car it’s really hard to stop swirls etc
I’m thinking synthetic may last longer between coatings

I usually go to the local hand carwash. They charge a fiver although I've just bought a black suv so it might cost a bit more now as it's bigger than my car.

Always wash mine in straight lines (as opposed to circles), in shade and never let the surface dry before shammying.
    A good shammy is crucial.

Colour magic was a good product for black cars but I'm not sure if it's still on the market.

Yes, your right about the brushes, the car wash I use is touchless and it comes out bone dry.

Ha Ha, I used to use that philosophy, whenever it rained I'd take the car out of the garage and put it outside.

It's basically a robot running back and forth over and under the car shooting chemicals and high pressure water and high pressure air, does a fantastic job not even a water spot anywhere.

Sounds good. The main problem here is the road salt/grit, it makes a mess no amount of rain will shift.
