    O/T Eric Bristow dies

    Not a massive darts fan but what a sad loss at the age of 60.

    Bristow died of a heart attack. Never one to mince his words he was a colourful character and used the title ‘The Crafty Cockney’ . Remember him well on Bullseye.

    World title champion 5 times. RIP fella.

    A true darts character who brought the showmanship into the game.

    Sincere condolences to his family.

    Was on Pointless Celebrities last Saturday.

    Although darts players have got richer and standards higher it was his era when darts was at it's most mainstream, and people knew their names.

    And what has to be the best quote ever from the world of darts from Sid Waddell;

    "When Alexander of Macedon was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer. Eric Bristow is only 27."

    Is this the same Eric Bristow that the trolls of the twittersphere hounded for his views of ***ual abuse in Football?

    Very entertaining “dartist” and not afraid of putting forward his views.

    When I was a kid, working in the Co Op club in Sheerness, Eric came in and ordered a round of drinks that was over £20. It was the biggest round of drinks that I’d ever seen!

    Sandra Dryden He came from Islington and we used to see him in the local pub darts team matches, even played against Steve, cocky bugger then but he knew he was a brilliant player. Sad so young.

    Thanks Eric.

    Saw him play an exhibition at TC Harrison in 1978 where he took on and beat 20 of Rotherham's top players. The cockier they were the easier he beat them. He would have only been 20/21 at the time but was certainly instrumental in helping move the televised game on from Indoor League towards where it is today.

    RIP

    Hawking, Dodd, Wilkins, Bristow. Surely we are seeing the "End of days".
