Shinnie doesn't want to play LB and I think it's a waste of him there. He will do a job of course but it really takes away quite a bit from the middle of the park.
Can see it being Shinnie and Gleeson to being with, with Forrester in the "number 10" and Ferguson will battle for a place - Although if Gleeson is injured that could change very quickly.
Maybe, just pointing out a possibility.
If Gleeson and Ferguson make up a good partnership, then it may free up DM's thoughts.
There's no doubt that Shinnie provides so much drive for us in midfield, but if that role can be picked up by others, then it could be a good thing.
I might be being controversial here, but technically (in terms of passing) Shinnie can be found wanting in midfield. Gives it away a lot.
His work-rate masks that sometimes.
Also lacks discipline. In terms of “emptying” the midfield like Flood used to do & in terms of number of bookings.
.
Think that's where McLean and Christie (Plus Jack before that) were great compliments to his endeavour. Definitely not on the passing level of a McLean, but his incessant work-rate could win us the ball back, and the quick thinking of McLean/Christie could get us on the break quickly (Out to Hayes/GMS/McGinn)
Guess it's just finding that balance.
