McInnes loves a “controlling” player in midfield and that’s why he loved Ryan Jack.
Maybe he sees Gleeson as Jack’s replacement.

Totally agree with that, especially after reading about Gleeson on his ex-clubs forums etc. He seems that type of sideways/backwards passer that Jack was, as well as picking up 2nd balls. It's that role which divides fans as he doesn't really do anything exciting or explosive but he keeps things ticking over. Plus like Jack, Gleeson appears to think he's a "tackler" when in truth he's a bit lightweight.
