So talk of the likes of Ryan Christie would seem pie in the sky.

Maybe a 31/8 loan of an attacking midfield player that can cover wide & no10 role?

We have some DNA funds to spend so I fully expect at least another signing before the window closes.

I don’t have to convince anyone. It wasn’t me who brandished an £800,000 figure after vat deductions not that long ago. He has kind of kept quiet since then though as the thought of spending some of it would maybe jeopardise his training facilities and stadium plans.

Do you think the stadium will get built quickly after the training facilities are up and running? I reckon it will be a drawn out affair due to the lack of funds. The nimby’s will probably get some of the blame for the lack of funding.

Assume Hignett is still our highest paid player ever at £8k per week - closer to £13k per week in today's money. More like £30k per week in relative terms in the current football economy.

From a purely financial perspective it makes sense for us to pay over the odds to keep a player who will very difficult or impossible to replace. This is based on the value derived from paying additional wages to an existing key player vs the value available when trying to sign a new player in the open market. An additional £2k per week is only £100k per year or £300k over a three year contract. We probably couldn't sign a replacement for Shinnie for £300k.

The main problem with this is that unless we are very disciplined it will lead to wage creep and other key players will demand that they receive the same or similar wages.
