    Darbys brewery

A while ago somebody was asking if anyone new the pub in Lombard street West Bromwich.its been closed for a fair few years ,but they were asking the name as it a darbys ale painted on the wall .ive just found its not a pub in fact it was called ,parish’s refreshment parlour ,opened over 80 years ago.closed in the late 50s, BUT it did serve Darbys ales also wines and spirits as it was licensed ( didn’t think folk drunk wine then ) been demolished now.along with the old gas show rooms ,which are destined for the Black Country living museum I’m told.dont shoot the messenger..

A great shame many of the old breweries went, and with them the recipes. Every beer is unique and tastes different, unlike the Carling dishwater drunk by shaven headed, bull necked tattooed OAFS.
Gawd knows how they get p1$$ed on that shyte.

Surely it's all a matter of personal taste...I'm a lager man but I often drink bitter when I attend outside functions...strange and illogical but it seems to affect my taste buds when I drink in the open air....I promise I'm not an alien...

And when you look around in pubs these days, Im glad to see its still a seriously popular drink (whatever the brand is)
And btw Ive not heard of that before about preferring beer/ale especially when your outside at public functions lol.

The outside bit all started yonks ago my big headed pig headed brother-in law said I should drink man's beer so we did, much to my enjoyment to see him legless and getting a rollocking from his missus. I could always drink goodly amounts of beer being a cricket fan I've had a lot of practice.

The bladder is not up to it now though...
