Thread: Darbys brewery

  1. #11
Just love the explosion in the number of breweries. Not so many years ago there were 2 breweries in Sus*** now CAMRA reckon there are 400+. My favourite is Dark Star from just down the road and at £3,40 a pint in my local. That's cheap for Sus***. A mate of mine brews one off ales in the cellar of the local deli as a hobby. On the 150th anniversary of the railway coming through they produced 'Old Puffer'

I'm not religious but I do believe beer is proof God's loves us and wants us to be happy

    and

Anyone who says they don’t like beer hasn’t tried the right one yet

Nice to see the hoss and jock is still serving. Not sure how it still attracts the custom seeing as its now tucked away from the main road. Unlike in the day Stoney Lane was a main thoroughfare from the town. It also included the old west brom football ground just up the road. I spent many a happy hour in my youth in the Queens Head and the the Jolly Nailor all now sadly long gone.

Holdens Golden my drink being a Coseley lad, had some last night in The Hinksford Arms, though i am more fond of Holdens Special bitter which they have from time to time, along with Sarah Hughes' Dark Ruby mild.

Phil, the jockey still as a fair few regulars, with no other pub around only the cushion , you can’t really count the lion or rampa not real boozers as they say.

'I Love You Will You Marry Me' was a guest beer at my local.

I picked the biggest, hairiest, ugliest bar staff to ask " I love you will you marry me please' She said "No"

Btw lads, Ive probably mentioned this before (in one of our many previous debates about beer & lager on here lol), that I do like a good pint of Abbotts beer/ale.
I dont go for 'mad' strength to be honest, but if any lager or beer is 5% then thats a good one. Ive tried some of the cloudy scrumpy ciders as well which are 6% and more, and also those Polish beers which are 7% etc, and wow!!. They tend to take affect very quickly and very surprisingly, which Ive found out to my cost this past month.
