Wolves 2-1 Blues (Willy Boly)
Wolves welcome rival Brum into Molineux this weekend. The match is on Sunday, so Wolves will know ahead of time if they have clinched automatic promotion or not. If Fulham have 82 points or less after their matches this weekend, Wolves will have sealed promotion regardless of whether they win, lose or draw with Brum as we would be 10 points ahead with 3 matches to go. However, if Wolves win against Brum, the title will be all but sealed as the only way Cardiff could nip us for the title is if we lose out, they win out and overcome the goal difference. Doesn't seem likely at all considering our matches left.
Brum have plenty left to play for. After sacking Harry Redknapp and Steve Cotterill, Blues finally got their managerial hire right in bringing Garry Monk aboard. Since his hire, they've steadily climbed out of the bottom three with 3 wins, a draw and 3 losses. They've only conceded more than one goal on two occasions with him as manager. However, they've really struggled to score this year. Only 32 goals on the year, 9 have come on Monk's watch though. So while not scoring in droves under him, they haven't been abysmal. Lukas Jutkiewicz has scored in three matches in a row, bringing his season total to 4, which makes him their third leading scorer behind Jota the Lesser and Sam Gallagher. They have six and five respectively. While currently 3 points out of the drop zone, Barnsley do have a match in hand and an advantage in goal differential so Brum are nowhere near safe at the moment. I imagine this will be a very physical match, due to both the rivalry and Brum's inability to score. Their best bet is to frustrate us into playing their side games on the pitch and not focusing on scoring goals.
But Wolves have a chance to clinch promotion at home, and virtually clinch the title. Man City were faced with a similar situation just a week ago - at home, chance to clinch the title against a local rival. They went up 2-0 at halftime but ended up losing 2-3. I don't expect the same from Wolves.
