Year in year out I keep thinking Ashley cant be that daft and things will change.....
    God we really need rid.

Give Rafa what he wants or rather what he needs. I have a horrible fear that if Ashley keeps playing his games that we will loose our world class manager.

We are riding a wave of euphoria not seen since....erm....since....oh yeah....since we won the chimpo and were promoted.

Let’s not let the feel good factor go like it did at the back end of the transfer windows.

As Ashley’s hero Del Boy would say...,,
    You know it makes sense!!!!

Fine if ridding him ensures the new owners can move the club forward long term and not a jolt forward on a whim before sinking long term.

    That depends.
Rafa is paid a kings ransom in wages. Not many clubs would be willing to pay him that, in my opinion.
However, Ashley stated that he can have every penny the club generates in profit and it comes down to wheeling and dealing like the other big clubs are doing which makes them look like they're spending cash on the hip yet are literally playing swap shop.

I agree that Rafa has to be given what he "needs" but we also have to work on a careful basis of not mixing needs with wants and breaking wage structures to extents of putting us in jeopardy if things don't work out, leaving us with long term overpaid mercenaries.
Just remember one thing. rafa or no Rafa we are the latter choice for top players who can't get moves to the elite clubs or the London type club scene.

Yep and let's hope it does inch forward from here.

Fingers crossed it all works out. I want the feel good days back of higher up battling and being feared by the elite clubs rather than looked upon as paupers.

I think this is the reason why Rafa is so important for us. Unlike a lot of our supporters he knows that it is dangerous to blow millions and put the club in huge debt. He was p*ssed off that he didn´t get more players earlier this season but I get the impression he wasn´t asking to spend massive amounts of money in today´s terms.

The Mag reporting that a contract extension for Rafa is being discussed.

If Ashley was telling the truth (!) then he should get all the money that the club generates this season in prize money, etc - does anyone, who´s seen the books, know how much it is likely to be?

He might get a large chunk of money this season (assuming he stays) but like you say, he knows it's dangerous to put the club into any debt on a whim but this has to also massively include wage structure. That's the key for us rather than just transfer fees.

The issue is in the bigger the transfer fee, the bigger the wages which can then lead to clashes between existing players which quickly turns to dressing room splits.
It's about keeping a structure and not diverting away from it, regardless.
If we can do that and Rafa is willing then we could potentially sneak up a level each season, then, who knows.

All pie in the sky at the minute because we don't know what the end of the season will bring in terms of him being here or Ashley selling up, etc.
