Well if you google the phrase "uk homicide rate by year" you get a load of graphs from different sources.
The common trend being that homicide rates adjusted for population growth show a continuous increase through the 1960s 1970s 1980sand 1990s reaching a peak in 2002, from that date there's been a dip which needs more years to see if it's a statistical dip and examination of reporting rules to see its validity. Coincidentally the turn of the millennium was when the UK started to get more aggressive on immigration, and oddly also marks the rough date when police numbers started to reduce.
In 2002 the rate was 3 times what it was in the mid 60s
Note the stats use the phrase homicide, this is so the figures can reflect events like the Harold Shipman case when not all of his victims were fully proven to be murder, just lumped together to make police stats look better.
The word homicide covers all unlawful killings, which means that causing death by recklless driving (until 1988), causing death by dangerous driving (from 1988) and causing death by careless driving (from 2006) will be included. In consequence, it is, I think, impossible to draw anything from the figures about murder rates. It also means that any trends that you find in those figures could be due, in part, to increasing car numbers from the 1960s onwards and improved vehicle safety in recent years.
Quite how you think using the word homicide with all the driving related death that it includes could make police stats look better is beyond me, but, then again , so is why you would try to turn this thread into one about *****philia. If you learn anything from the current Independent Inquiry into Child Abuse, it should be that it has been endemic in this country for decades and that it happens wherever children have contact with adults, whether that be schools, churches, scout troops, mosques, fast food outlets or, most commonly, in the home. If it appears that there is more of it about now that is because it is reported and investigated more.
"If it appears that there is more of it about now that is because it is reported and investigated more"
The odd thing is, most of the perverts prosecuted for grooming, rape etc appear to have asian sounding names.
Also odd is the independent reports on child ***ual exploitation all highlight that there's been a LACK of investigation.
Put the two together and it appears we are only getting the tip of the asian *****phile iceberg.
Dress it up all you like, lay smokescreens, make excuses, but we have had, and continue to have problems with gangs of asian men grooming and raping kids.
I saw some stats about 10 years ago and Rotherham was 3rd in the country in terms of murders per population.
May have been a bad year but it's certainly not a peaceful place.
For people who say crime was lower in the past, have a look the Advertiser from the 60s, 70s, 80s and compare them to now, there's a lot more crime now and it's more serious crime as well.
