Dennis would be a good league one accusations though we're aiming higher

They could possibly have someone who could defrost a Pukka Pie and serve it up warm.

What always made me wonder is why Macclesfield were not allowed in the league but it was ok for Chester to play there in the same league. I remmember we won, Duffield scored for us, early 90's.

The fortunes of Chesterfield may soon take a turn for the good. Apparently there are already two consortiums looking to buy the club for 5 million, one Sheffield based the other one an overseas bidder.

It reminds me how close Burnley came to dropping into the Conference in 1987. They were within one game (and the need for Lincoln to lose) of being relegated. Hard to imagine now as they fly high in the Premiership.

Luton Town must be one of the most widely promoted/relegated sides having played in all five divisions since the fifties (and been FA Cup finalists in that period.)

I'd forgotten how little change occurred before the relegation/promotion rules were changed in 1986.
    And Swansea more recently!

Talking of epic rise and fall, Northampton’s takes some beating.

Northampton were promoted three times between 1960 to 1965. Starting the 1960–61 season in the 4th Division, they reached the 1st Division in 1965–66, this being the top flight at the time. They were then relegated back to the Fourth Division over the next five years, playing in the bottom tier again in 1969–70.

Basically 4th to 1st and back to 4th in less than 10 years

Didn’t Swansea under John Toshack do that in less time?

    19 goals in a poor side - he’ll want a move surely?
