Gerrad and McAllister - Dream team for Rangers?

The partnership is said to be on the cusp of agreeing a deal to take over the playing side of Rangers. Would it be right for both sides of the deal to make it happen? The prospect of a well admired player taking his first managerial steps in the spotlight of Glasgow rivalry would be daunting for anyone. Can somebody like Steven Gerrard have to clout to make decent players improve to the level required by their fans in short measure? Is there money available to whoever takes on the job to tinker with the squad? I will leave it to others to decide if tinkling or wholesale changes are required at Ibrox.

Gerrard has enjoyed success for many years in an illustrious career. Will he be fully aware of the enormity of the challenge of being Rangers manager - even during their strongest period when winning things - if the deal is done? A very steep learning curve awaits him when he starts his managerial career no matter where it starts. How long will Gerrard be allowed to earn his managerial stripes before the media and fans ask when the miracle will begin?

A huge decision to be made by Rangers and Gerrard.
