    Penalty Shootout Practice

At the end of the Luton game, the squad should split into two teams and have a practice penalty shootout in front of the Kop.

This will give the players shootout practice in front of a crowd, when they are tired having just played the game.

It would also add more interest to the Luton game which has been made to feel like a pre season match now.

Don't forget the 5000 Luton fans who will want to invade the pitch at the final whistle to celebrate promotion.

I suppose if you can put a penalty away with 5,000 fans on the pitch then you can do it anytime. Sort it out Notts.

No problem. It's the ref's job to watch for encroachment...

Seriously though, not a bad concept at all. But might be picked up by the media and used by the opposition for motivation.

It would also supply future opponents with information about how each of our players takes a penalty, which side of the goal they aim for etc.

Maybe to make it more interesting they should play that stupid game they play at halftime in the KOP goal, were they kick the ball and try and knock those plastic barrels over...

    No.

No pressure. No repercussions for missing. Players won’t have played 120 minutes of football.

Taking penalties is not an exact science. Make your decision as to how you want to hit the ball and where. This should be done before a ball is kicked.

IF penalties are required KN and the coaching team should know what each player wants to do. I would make each player tell the manager his plan, and the manager can back it and make sure the player is committed to it. More often than not it’s a poor penalty caused by ‘changing your mind’.
