I might take you up on that dependant on my own team’s commitments along with aligning a home Arsenal game, otherwise I’ll try and get tickets for our 1st match at their new stadium.
I hope by the end of the night you have all the guests in unison singing the European Song 🍻👍

Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, but to be young was very heaven.
Was 17 years old, but my mum would not let me go as I had an exam the next day. “Don’t worry” she said, “you can always go to the next one”. To be fair, we got to the semis next year, only to be dumped out by Porto on a foggy foggy night.

My son is now 16, and if he wants to go to an away game, but Mrs Crooky says no, I always tell him to go for it.

Watched it on ITV with Ian St.John commentating.

I thought that Real Madrid free kick in the last minute was in.

The next day we were allowed out of school early to see the team go along Union Street in an open top bus.

Was 18 and on a flight organised by All Begg's da. He's put some cine camera clips on twitter, and me and my brother are spottable in one of them! What a night! The first and last time I ever did some fountain swimming in full kilt outfit!
I just watched the youtube clip mentioned in the original post and had to stop after Black's goal, or else I'd be greeting.... maybe later, when I've had a beer or two...

I think it was raining that day ...

I was only 11 months old, so obviously I don't remember. My dad had the whole game on VHS and would often watch it. I remember being around 4 or 5 the first time i watched it. I still watch it to this day and get goose bumps, so god knows what it must be like for those who were old enough to remember it. Its a shame that i will never get to witness in person, such an amazing achievement. Jealous of all you old f*ckers !!
I am an old f*cker and still have the vhs tape but haven't watched it for years ( I recently chucked out hunners of my old tapes but I couldn't get rid of the Done eens) It really is amazing how that we won and incredible that a team such as ourselves could win a Euro trophy. A never to be forgotten experience and for the last 30+ years thank god (despite being an aetheist) I went.

That's why I loved the ECWC. "Diddy" teams could win it and reach finals. We won it, Magdeburg won it, Dinamo Tblisi won it, Slovan Bratislava won it, Real Zaragoza won it, Paris St Germain won it(when their trophy cabinet had f@ck all and they were diddies), teams like Carl Zeiss Jena, Lokomotive Leipzig, Gornik Zabrze, MTK, Royal Antwerp reached finals. All this happened when big teams entered as the champions only went into the European cup meaning the two lesser trophies were stocked full of big teams . Look at our quarter finals line up as an example of the teams that were involved.

The UEFA had plenty diddy finalists , Videoton, Casino Salzburg, AZ Alkmaar, Bastia, celtic, Twente and only one real diddy winner Ipswich

The ECWC was a truly great trophy that created proper "cup romance" which was unfortunately killed by Champions League

Definition please of a “diddy” team ?

You’ve obviously got time on your hands to scroll thru Wikipedia of past winners/finalists in Euro finals.....nae my scene, however, each to their own I suppose.

As per normal, I made a mistake yesterday when I posted that Sion was my first Euro jaunt.......you have just managed to jog my memory.....it was actually an overnighter down to Portman Road.....the 2nd leg at Pittodrie was one of my best nights at our present home, I can assure you, the Ipswich team were not “real diddies”, however, our performance that night was that good they probably felt they were as they travelled back after the match.

Wikipediad the UEFA cup finalists. Plenty of time to do it and getting paid which makes it even better.

I think you know what I mean about diddy teams. Diddy as in little unfancied clubs. But as per usual you are just looking for an argument as per usual.

Yest the "once michty" were a diddy team then and still are..

How is your other diddy club doing anyway? Trap door beckons

You would think that with more "big" clubs going into the atrociously named champions league, that it would be easier to win the uefa cup.
No Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich to compete with.

That's not the case , although I think it's still possible for a club of our size to put a team together to win the uefa cup.

What is not in doubt is that they have completely destroyed " the romance of the cup"
Even the English have devalued their FA Cup and they used to love that competition.

I am acutely aware how easy it is, as you get older, to think that everything was better in your youth.
Football, and not just Aberdeen, was miles better in my youth.
