    Happy Goteborg Day

    Lest we forget.....

Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, but to be young was very heaven.

Ffs Kendo, 35 years ago, mind that trip like yesterday, as a young dandy I did not fully appreciate the significance of it all......more interested in Swedish puntang......now older/wiser I look back with great fondness of how special that match was and indeed the whole campaign from my first euro jaunt to Sion in the qualifying round to getting off the train in Stoney 3 hours before we played Hibs in the last league game of the season.

We were very fortunate to have seen such a great achievement.

    I’ll raise a glass tonight.

How do you even compare that to todays football?
Imagine Real Madrid in 5 years time or so going through a non champions league spell but managing to get to the Europa league/Uefa cup final and being beaten by opposition of our size!!!

    Comparisons are not necessary.

It maybe wasn't the best Real Madrid team of all time but they were still good enough to get to a European Final.

For any doubters, check out the teams that went into the quarter final draw.

    Bayern Munich
    Paris Saint Germain
    Austria Vienna
    Inter Milan
    Barcelona
    Real Madrid
    Waterschei
    Aberdeen

Also remember that we went on that year to beat the winners of the European Cup.

Also Real Madrid went on to win 2 consecutive Uefa cups in 85 + 86
