We reached the play-offs for the first time in Derek Pavis’ first full season as chairman. John Barnwell was the manager.
We’d been in an automatic promotion place from 21st November (when we beat Walsall 3-1) until 30th April (when we lost to Walsall 2-1).
The semi-final first leg was at home to …….. Walsall. The attendance was 11,522, the only five figure attendance that season.
Although Dean Yates scored early on, we eventually lost 3-1. We drew the away leg 1-1 and so missed out on promotion.

It's just great to be involved in the play-offs again after so many years. As long as we don't lose by more than 2 tonight we're still in it. I'd be fairly happy losing by 1. A draw would be fantastic.
