The last 4 Europa League campaigns have basically been two legged glamour friendlies, the early start has a detremental effect on the team come the end of the season, sure its better than the League Cup group stages, we would probably make more money out of the two games against Burnley than we would in 4 games against didy Scottish clubs, only downside financially about EL is the cost of transporting the team by private jet to some far flung European outpost, the money paid by Uefa doesnt even begin to cover expenses.

I agree with all of that but playing competitive games in Europe breaks up the monotony of playing St Johnstone, etc.

Burnley have played 5 pre-season friendlies with mixed results. We started with a 1-0 win at Cork City before two different teams played behind-closed-door games at home to League One teams Blackpool and Shrewsbury. Both were lost 0-2 and 0-1, respectively.

On Friday, again two different teams played at L2 Macclesfield (2-0) and sixth tier Curzon Ashton (5-2).

Cheers for that info. I checked your clubs website and it didn’t mention any games except tonight’s game.

Burnley removed most of their players after 55 minutes with a view to Thursday.

Yeah tin hat on here but if you were Stewarty Milne or DM to a certain degree, would you really be wanting us to win on aggregate against Burnley? Maybe just write off the europa league this year and save splashing out on a private jet.

I am not the biggest fan of Milne or McInnes but surely to goodness they wouldn’t want us to lose just to save a couple of quid and getting a sun tan!
