When you think about it, we have a bad record of relegations and/or struggles in a World Cup year.
As well as this one in '18 we also went down in '98, '02, & '14, and we only just stayed up in both '90 & '94.

There are some exceptions to this though, most notably in '06 when we went up on pens against Swanny. But I find it odd that most of our poorest seasons are in a World Cup year.

And in '82 as well I suppose, which was our first season back in what has now become the Champship. I think we finished 6th and were up with the top 3 for most of the season.
