I know this is page 24 and nothing seems to have happened but in a few years time we may be saying what a fantastic signing Vinnie Steels was and he cost us nothing. He may be linking up then with a couple of others who have come through at Gawthorpe. They may then make Clubs paying £60/£70m for foreigners look stupid.Have faith we are at least strong enough now to stay in the EPL and the dry powder room remains bolted.

Bamford's goal per game ratio is virtually identical to that of Chris Wood, and we paid Leeds £15m for him. So they've replaced like for like and made a £5m profit on the deals. Looks like good business for Leeds to me, with us being the mugs who over-paid.

    Sean riddling again

There’s some money going around, if you look at what Brighton have spent - a lot - Cardiff have spent a lot, Fulham seemingly haven’t stopped spending, Huddersfield have spent a lot,” he said.

“They are pushing their own markets and their own parameters financially, and we might have to do the same.
It’s not the rights or wrongs of the market any more, people just pay whatever that deal takes.

“It’s a tough market, there’s no two ways about it. It definitely gets more difficult every year, not just the numbers, because everyone wants as many options as possible.”

Dyche said the idea of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ was gone.

“I’ve only been doing it seven years and at the beginning when the agent said ‘okay’, that was it. Now that doesn’t exist. Now that doesn’t exist, now it’s ‘yeah, we want to do it’ and telling someone else they want to do it, and so on and so on until it pushes and pushes it. And the clubs are the same.

    “That’s what’s changed.

“I could tell you there is (something happening) and then they go away.

Bamford was nowhere near as effective for us as Wood has been. Wood may be a mard arse but he knows where the onion bag is!
