    Possibly go with: -

    Lewis
Logan (maybe even Virtanen) Devlin McKenna Hobban
    Ferguson Gleeson
    McLennan Wilson GMS
    Cosgrove

    Subs: -

    Czerny
    Considine
    Shinnie
    Forrester
    Campbell
    May
    McGinn

Be prepared to take on Considine and Shinnie for Devlin and Hobban (if only playing for say 60 mins) and then Forrester for Wilson / Cosgrove
Neither Devlin or Hobban will be fit for saturday, and doubt May or Logan will be risked either, but agree that Virtanen should start.

    Lewis
    Virtanen Consi McKenna Shinnie
    Ferguson Gleeson
    McLennan Campbell GMS
    Cosgrove

There bottom of league 1 were at Pittodrie we hardly need 6 defenders on the field

Probably not, however its about gelling the team for the upcoming fixtures, hence similar formations are used.

What tactics do you think they are?

If your introducing youngsters into the team, it makes sense that they are used with familiar players around them in a formation that is normally deployed.
That way it becomes easier to transition into the side.

We play Stenhousemuir on Saturday and it should be a perfect game to introduce players ahead of our upcoming games against Hamilton and Kilmarnock and gives them more experience should they be required in those games.

If you were earning £200k pa and had a chance to go and earn £500k pa for two or three years, in a progressive city like Manchester, and you had a young family to support when you retire in 7 or 8 years (with a debilitating illness which may restrict that timescale) why the hell wouldn't you go?

    1) Crohn's disease does not necessarily mean its debilitating his performances and can be managed.
Shinnie has shown in his time here that he manages his condition well

    2) Having a family can be a significant factor, far outweighing money in decisions as to where to bring up that family.
No-one is arguing that he could earn more elsewhere, he had that opportunity before he joined us, but joined us because of those family preferences.
They may have changed now his daughter is a bit older, but they may also prefer the stability.
His condition may be another factor no a preference to stay stable, albeit Manchester is not the other side of the world
