    Its all relative.

The Brexit referendum and subsequent billions to pay when we finally leave Europe is a bit of a waste so to show-off Britain and showcase the Royals to th world is priceless.

At least the country will see a return on its investment whilst Brexit just gets us to retain our sovereign powers.

All that time, effort and money to retain what we should have.

    Now that's a real waste.

You are totally correct blueheeler1, everything is indeed relative. £30 million cost to the British taxpayer on the Royal wedding malarkey, while we incarcerate people for being poor...

But nothing to do with the topic. This is local authority action and guess who runs them, NOT the Royal Family, but your Labour friends - and ones you can influence. .

When I get the time I will see exactly which councils are enforcing these orders. Nothing to do with this topic? The cost of Royal Family clothes horses alone could end food banks for the next 100 years!

I find it really sad that people can have so much hatred for ANYTHING!
No wonder there are problems in the world when this volume of hatred exists.

On the diversionary tactics, I am aware of one council which has enforced SPSO and, since its inception 45 years ago, has only been in Tory hands between 1976 and 1979 whilst being controlled by the humane Labour Party for the rest of the time. I did notice that the only council mentioned in the Guardian was Kettering which used to be under Labour control but changed in 2003.

Not only that, these young men who chase the bag of wind while wearing a gimp suit are paid obscene amounts of money for doing it. And silly buggers like us spend a fortune travelling the country (and Europe) to watch them.
So before we call people interested in the wedding "morons", "weirdos" and "people with nothing better to do" perhaps we should analyse our strange behaviour?

On the Royal family....would you REALLY prefer that we had a President? President Boris perhaps? Do you REALLY think that the American system is better than ours? Or the Russian? Or the North Korean?

If you do then fair enough. Our system has generally served us well for many hundreds of years. Not ideal, but in my opinion it is better than almost every other system.
Excellent 59-60, every so often, but not too often, we're on the same wavelength.
