Should be a good each-way bet mon ami. That Saxon Warrior will take some beating but I can't back it at such a short price. O'Brien is a bit of a rascal himself, his 'outsiders' often outrun their odds so I might have an each-way bet on one of his other runners, possibly Delano Roosevelt, I had the 2nd in the Irish 1000 Gns at 33/1 a couple of weeks ago using this method.

What about the Oaks this afternoon, has your tipping service gone on holiday ? I backed Forever Together at 16/1 for that after it's 2nd at Chester, it got no sort of a run that day, boxed in on the rail, but it flew once it got out, and would have won in another few strides, it's 6/1 now, so somebody besides me must like it.

I know very little about the gee gees and whenever I pick a horse it is based on technical data such as the name, colours and stuff like that.

Therefore my exclusive tip for the Oaks is Perfect Clarity.

There is a small caveat. I haven't actually picked a winner in a horse race since Team Spirit won the National in 1964.

I can remember chatting to a lady in the Members Bar at Ripon a couple of years ago 59/60, She said she was landlady of a pub in Ripon and came to every meeting. I asked her how she found the time to study the form and she said she didn't, she arrived at the course, ordered a G & T, and went through the racecard, picking the first horse she came across in each race that had some pink in it's colours. And does it pay, I asked, oh yes, she said, I'm in front at the end of every season. Who was I to argue, but it's not a method I've tried myself.
