But I hadn't realised they rigged the fixtures to ensure that the 'big boys' don't play each other at the end of the season so I wonder if they fix the newly promoted clubs' games too?

Given that we finished in the middle (along with whoever finished 11th), I don't know how we fit into the grand scheme of things?

yes they do. i recall them saying they give the promoted clubs a match against 1 of the top 4 as their 1st match

because (paraphrase) - a promoted club probably wouldn't have a wider fanbase and it would create interest on a wider scale
