There is no guarantee of a profit in the Premier League. Getting into Europe or having a profile that allows you to sell merchandise around the world will do it, but both of those options generally needs the purchase of a number of very expensive players, which is very risky

That’s because you are thinking too small - when you should be thinking Watford, Bournemouth and especially Burnley and you can add to that a long list of other clubs in that category such as Blackburn and Bolton.

I'm fully aware of the above mentioned clubs and what they have achieved and it bears no resemblance what so ever to this club .

All the clubs mentioned have ownership who were prepared to kick start their progress by investing millions of pounds up front .

We haven't presently and your another one YN who seems to believe there's a link between our owners wealth and that of the club , there isn't .

They didn't do it at OGC Nice and it's unlikely they will do it here .

Your setting yourself up for a frustrating time YN thinking along the lines you do currently .

Yeh Blackburn and Bolton are a real solid model to aspire to !!!!!!!

The other scenario that could be considered is this .

Get the owners to invest £50m in to the club to kick start the " Destination Premier League " project .

    However ........

ST's next season will be £800 and match day prices are £42 .

All in this together and let's make a start .

    Deal anyone ??????

So you are thinking once a little club always a little club. There is nothing wrong with ambition i do agree the owners aren't going to pump millions into the club like Wolves have. All we need to do to improve is to become competitive in the market like Huddersfield. If they can do it why can't we, we need to offer better wages and be smarter in the market. We don't need to pay 10-20 million for good players there are good cheap players out there. If they up the wage budget we would have been able to keep Hourihane, Winnall, Scowen and Watkins. Who knows where we would be now.

Might have kept Scowen and Watkins but not Winnall and Hourihane.

Those 2 were the key to our success more than anyone

I think what wound people up with Hourihane and Winnall leaving was that the board had said that they would both see out their contracts and they didn't need the money due to sell on received from the Stones transfer to Man City and the sale of Mawson to Swansea.

Were Hourihane and Winnall demanding to stay and happy to turn down four times their existing wage ?

There is no way the fans will foot the bill, 50m they won't invest that much and the money will start coming in from new sponsors and advertising and tv money. Obviously before anyone says we won't get tv money i am not talking about just one season turnaround. This venture could take years it could take 10. These owners won't invest if they don't plan to make a profit and our relegation is a massive step backwords and they know they have to put money in before they can make any profit.

OGC Nice are still waiting for them to put their hands in their pockets. All they have done so far is sell their best players to balance the books. Same again at Nice this summer.
