    SPL prize payments

Apologies if this has been covered but I was reading today that Partick thistle and County won £1.14 and £1.07 million respectively for their final league position.

Seems to have been a fair jump in prize money compared to previous seasons. How much did we get and have we received it or is it paid out at a later date?

I think it is immaterial how much we got for finishing 2nd, as opposed to 3rd (£320K difference, apparently) because I'd have thought our management team, plus the players, will eat into that difference, due to the bonus payments structured into their contracts.

No wonder Derek looked delighted, at the final whistle at Porkheed.

I could be wrong (has happened before) but I've never seen anything reported that he would have that £320K extra to spend on his squad rebuilding program for next season.

Deek was probably just as delighted at achieving second after all the naysaying that has gone on this season, never mind any supposed bonus payments.

And given all the negative press cr@p about Aberdeen and the media love in of Clarke and Lennon I think McInnes was allowed that wee bit of jubilation.

After the semi-final I was dreading the post split fixtures.
Was pleasantly surprised at our turn-around after the motherwell result

Anyone else think the 900K between first and second is a bit skewed compared to the 320K between second and third?

Most of the jumps are pretty even, then BOOM! nearly a million quid.....

They should take the £27M and split it among all 42 clubs... same for TV money as well. Make it a level playing field.

Its an interesting idea, the only issue remains what is the incentive for being as high up the table as you possibly can?

Its alright at the top of the league, where European places are up for grabs but for the bottom 8 it would make no difference. It also means there is no financial drawback to relegation....

Surely winning matches is its own reward. No team would settle for 6th if 5th is on offer.

    I’m all for it
