    Season Review 2017/18 (2)

The winter break provided an important breathing space for the team. After the League Cup final defeat at the end of November we had a horrible run of eight league games with only two draws to break the run of defeats. - External Link

It was one of my favourite ever season's following Motherwell and so far removed from the guff we endured the previous three.

That's what good Cup runs do for clubs like us, as well as a squad and manager who look as though they really enjoy being at the club.

The highlights for me were of course beating Rangers in the League Cup Semi Final, a tremendous day out and a great win, with a superb goal from Moult to clinch it. But for me the two cup wins over Aberdeen topped that day. Beating Aberdeen is more special as I can't stand that club and their arrogance support and to dump them out of both Cups was just sublime. The Fir Park game in September was easily our best performance of the season and we destroyed them that night. Then the Semi Final at Hampden was a brilliant day as we reached our second final of the season and sent their dour pussed followers back up the road gutted once again. I especially loved that they were made to play at Hampden after all their greetin about it and wanting it moved to Edinburgh to make it more convenient for them. Main's clincher that day was a wonderful, wonderful moment as you knew then we had them beaten yet again.
