The Russian government and Putin in particular are as dodgy as they come. Thing is they couldnt care less. Of course they fired it, just like the recent poisoning in Salisbury and all the internet stuff about the US and our elections, arranging for their hooligans to attack the Engerland fans in Marseille (mind it showed just how hard cough the arms out stretched bottle throwers are), drug cheating in the Winter Olympics, never mind backing that Cnut Assad in Syria.

As said, Putin just doesn't care about international opinion. Only the one inside Russia and he controls that opinion - this will be used as us v them by him on their media.

Russia should be sanctioned into oblivion but only certain countries would do it, certainly not the EU, China, Turkey, India etc.

The EU did put a load of sanctions on them but whilst Germany gets a sweetheart deal on energy they'll never put in the heavy sanctions that would be needed.
