I agree with Ram actually, and going back to the 37% argument, imagine the uproar if the inclusion of male votes had made the difference in a close vote against change....

Abortion is an issue that directly affects a number of child bearing women, I'm just asking the question should other people be involved in the vote.

Is like giving forest fans a vote on the next Derby manager.

Appreciate you’re just asking the question but, imo, it is not remotely ‘like giving Forest fans a vote on the next Derby manager’.

Firstly, procreation, reproduction and parenting are matters which involve both genders.
Secondly, while I accept that there may well be many people who believe that, circumstantially, the question has nothing to do with them, there is a moral issue involved here which transcends both age and gender.

It's easy to have moral values when they only affect others.

Take your point but your and Andy’s argument seems bizarre to me.

You appear to be suggesting that only those who are what you describe as ‘directly affected’ should have a say on law change.

What else does such a theory apply to?

I think it's bizarre that the vast majority of people are voting on something that will never affect their lives, but we'll have a great effect on others.

We could say that it's morally wrong for people to live in houses worth more than £5m, so let's vote to have all houses worth more than that, returned to the state, demolished and social housing built.

That’s exactly what I’m saying and it shouldn’t apply to anything else

Am I missing something or are you two on a wind up?

Are you seriously suggesting that a) the issue of abortion is something which women alone should vote on and b) that people should only vote on matters which directly affect them?

You did t read my response properly or I didn’t make myself clear, I can’t think of anything else that only women/those affected should vote on

Sorry...still confused...’I can’t think of anything ELSE that only women/those affected should vote on’.

So you’re suggesting that...the issue of abortion IS something that only women/those affected should vote on...is that right?
