It would be a huge mistake to sell Stevie - this lad will be huge for us this coming season
FORMER St Mirren ace Stevie Mallan could be in line for a sensational return to Scotland.
Hibs are ready to offer the ex-Scotland Under-21 star an exit route out of Barnsley after his move there last summer turned sour.
Confidence was high when Mallan, 22, landed a switch to the English Championship after firing the Buddies to Scottish Championship safety.
But he struggled to impress, making just nine appearances as the Tykes were relegated to League One.
Mallan scored six goals in his last 10 games to keep St Mirren up as a leaving present before going down south.
And that quality, especially from long range and set-pieces, has caught the interest of Easter Road boss Neil Lennon.
Hibs need to strengthen their midfield with out-of-contract Dylan McGeouch’s future unclear and loan ace Scott Allan returning to champions Celtic.
And Lennon also expects offers for star John McGinn as he enters the final year of his current deal.
